Akoya Projects is a privately owned, design-led property development company based in South East Queensland. Since 2012, we have carefully crafted a portfolio of boutique residential and commercial projects in blue chip locations. Inspired by the timeless sophistication of our namesake, the Akoya pearl, we specialise in smaller, high-end projects that reflect this same precious quality.

By prioritising quality over quantity, Nick and John foster close relationships with clients and provide them with the uniquely personalised buying experience they deserve. Together, their complementary skill sets allow them to collaborate on all design, approval, and delivery stages – from conception to competition – at the highest possible level. As a result, Akoya developments attract exceptional owner-occupier rates and are tightly held for years to come.

Nick is a third-generation builder and celebrated industry leader, known for his superb craftsmanship and eye for contemporary finishes. He is the Director of Groove Properties, a Brisbane construction company he founded in 2007. With over 15 years’ experience, Groove alone has delivered more than 300 residences across 60 projects with a total combined value exceeding $130m.
John established his career at Macquarie Capital Advisors in Sydney where he was involved in over $14.5 billion in real estate transactions across mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity, and debt raisings. Moving back to his Brisbane home in 2011, John extended his career into transport and technology, while also establishing his partnership with Nick in developing high quality multi-residential and mixed-use projects. John has a passion for how we live and move in our community, and uses these complimentary skills to develop thoughtfully designed projects in highly connected and liveable locations.
